UN Sustainable Development Goals

Science for a
Sustainable
World.

Capsber's mission is inseparable from the world's most urgent challenges. Every product we develop, every farmer we reach and every hectare we restore moves the needle on six of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

SDG 2 Zero Hunger
SDG 3 Good Health
SDG 8 Decent Work
SDG 13 Climate Action
SDG 15 Life on Land
Potential Impact by 2030

Our 2030 Impact Potential

Capsber's biological platform has the potential to deliver transformative impact across land, water, climate and farmer welfare by 2030 — meeting 5 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

🌍 30M Ha Land Area Impacted
30 million hectares of farmland restored to sustainable biological management — reducing soil degradation and chemical dependency at scale.
👨‍🌾 50M Small Holder Farmers Benefited
50 million smallholder farmers across India and beyond gaining access to certified, affordable biological inputs and digital advisory.
🌫️ 550M MT GHG Emissions Reduced
550 million metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions avoided through the replacement of synthetic nitrogen fertilisers with biological alternatives.
💧 2310B Lit Irrigation Water Saved
2,310 billion litres of irrigation water conserved through mycorrhizal and biostimulant programmes that dramatically improve crop water use efficiency.
💰 $11.2B Additional Revenue to Farmers
$11.2 billion in additional farm revenue generated through yield improvements, input cost reductions and premium market access enabled by biological certification.
🌿 10–20% Decrease in Chemical Weedicides
10–20% reduction in chemical weedicide use across programme farms through integrated biological weed management and improved crop competition.

How Capsber Advances Each Goal

A detailed look at how Capsber's products, programmes and partnerships directly advance each of the six SDGs we are committed to.

2 SDG 2 SDG 2
Zero Hunger
Producing more food sustainably — without expanding the chemical footprint
Capsber's biocontrol and bionutrition products consistently deliver 25–45% yield improvements across major food crops — paddy, wheat, pulses, vegetables and fruits — without increasing synthetic inputs. By restoring soil health and mobilising nutrients more efficiently, biological inputs enable farmers to feed more people from the same land. Our mycorrhizal and biofertilizer products (FERTIVAM™, FERTIMANN™, SONAAR™) improve phosphorus and nitrogen use efficiency, reducing wastage while boosting crop nutrition.

Good Health & Well-Being
Eliminating toxic residues from food and protecting farmer health
Every Capsber biocontrol product carries zero Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) and zero Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) — meaning food grown with Capsber inputs is safe to harvest and eat immediately. This directly protects consumer health and eliminates the chronic pesticide exposure that affects millions of Indian farmers who handle chemical inputs daily. Our ECOCERT certified range enables farmers to access premium health-conscious and export markets, improving both income and community wellbeing.

Decent Work & Economic Growth
Improving farm incomes and building rural livelihoods through biology
Farmers on Capsber programmes see an average 45% improvement in net farm income in their third season — driven by lower input costs, higher yields and premium pricing for organic or residue-free produce. Beyond the farmer, Capsber's FPO network creates employment for rural agronomists, field officers and Krishi Mitras — building skilled rural livelihoods in agricultural communities. Our 50+ FPO partnerships are structured to be commercially sustainable for the FPO itself, not just charitable programmes.

Responsible Consumption & Production
Shifting Indian agriculture from extractive chemistry to regenerative biology
India's dependence on synthetic fertilisers and pesticides is one of its most significant environmental liabilities — with runoff contaminating waterways, groundwater depletion accelerating and soil carbon declining year on year. Capsber's complete biological input system — biocontrol, bionutrition, biostimulants and botanicals — replaces the extractive chemical model with a circular, nature-based production system. Our seaweed extraction (5M+ litres/year) and chitin production (1,200+ MT/year) are built on renewable marine biomass — closing resource loops rather than depleting them.

Climate Action
Building climate-resilient farms that perform better in extremes
Agriculture is both a major contributor to and a major victim of climate change. Capsber addresses both sides. Our biofertilizers and biostimulants build soil organic carbon — converting farms from net carbon emitters to potential carbon sinks. Healthy biological soils hold more water, buffer temperature extremes and recover faster from drought and flood events. Farmers on multi-season Capsber programmes consistently report better performance during weather stress years — a growing priority as Indian monsoon variability intensifies.

Life on Land
Restoring soil biodiversity and protecting beneficial organisms on every farm
Synthetic pesticides kill indiscriminately — beneficial insects, soil microbes, pollinators and predatory species that keep pest populations in natural balance. Every Capsber biocontrol product is 100% safe for pollinators, predatory insects and soil organisms. Our biofertilizer products actively restore soil microbial diversity — replacing the monoculture microbiome of chemically-farmed soils with a rich, biodiverse ecosystem. FERTIVAM™'s mycorrhizal network extends root reach by 100–1,000× — rebuilding the underground web of life that healthy land depends on.

SDG Targets

Specific Targets We Address

Within each SDG, Capsber's work maps directly to specific UN targets — measurable milestones on the road to 2030.

SDG 2 · Target 2.4
Sustainable Food Production Systems
By 2030, ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production — Capsber's bio-input model delivers both.
SDG 3 · Target 3.9
Reduce Deaths from Hazardous Chemicals
Reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution — Capsber's zero-MRL products directly reduce dietary and occupational chemical exposure.
SDG 8 · Target 8.6
Reduce Youth Not in Employment
Reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training — Capsber's FPO network and Krishi Mitra programme creates skilled agronomy employment in rural communities.
SDG 12 · Target 12.4
Environmentally Sound Management of Chemicals
Achieve environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes — Capsber's biological inputs replace the most toxic categories of synthetic agricultural chemicals with nature-based alternatives.
SDG 13 · Target 13.1
Strengthen Resilience to Climate Hazards
Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards — Capsber's soil health programme builds biological buffers that help farms perform better during droughts and floods.
SDG 15 · Target 15.5
Reduce Degradation of Natural Habitats
Take urgent action to reduce degradation of natural habitats and halt biodiversity loss — Capsber's pollinator-safe biocontrol and soil-restoring biofertilizers actively reverse farmland biodiversity decline.
